Meet the Teacher!
- Thursday, October 1, 2026
- 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
We are excited to welcome our school community into the building! Join us to visit your child’s classroom, meet their homeroom teacher, and learn about classroom routines, expectations, and learning goals for the year.
Session Schedule
Grades 1 - 3:
Session 1 6:00 - 6:25
Session 2 6:30 - 6:55
Grades 4 - 8:
Session 1 6:30 - 6:55
Session 2 7:00 - 7:25
Important Details
- One Session Per Family: Classroom visits are with homeroom teachers only. Please attend only one session per child.
- Teacher Communication: Your child’s teacher will share any specific presentation details prior to the event.
- Student Progress: This event is designed as a general overview of the curriculum and classroom routines, to build relationships with families through open and inclusive communication and the creation of welcoming spaces. It is not intended to be a progress interview for individual students. If you wish to discuss your child’s individual academic progress, please contact the teacher directly to schedule a conversation, or connect during our formal Progress Report Conferences in November.
New School Organization:
As a follow-up to our communication on September 23, the school has now completed its reorganization. As we had shared, changes in our enrolment between June and September, along with the need to comply with the Ministry of Education’s Class Size Compliance requirements and to maintain acceptable class sizes in the Primary division, required us to make modifications to our classroom organization. These changes take effect Monday, September 28, 2026.
To support a positive learning environment for all students, we have reorganized our primary classes, reducing class size in most, creating a dedicated Grade 2 from the Grade 2-3 combined class, and opening a new Grade 3 class. Students whose class placements were affected have had the opportunity to visit their new class and will report to their new classrooms on Monday, September 28.
Please see the school organization and teacher assignments outlined below. There are no further changes to the school organization, and no changes were made to the Junior and Intermediate classes.
We sincerely thank all staff, families, and students for their patience, support, and understanding throughout this transition.
Sincerely,
Eugenia Giavanoglou-Korinis Iraklis Karailiadis

The School Welcome Package and Start-Up Forms:
All families are asked to review the School Welcome Package emailed the first week of school.
This package includes important information about our school, and we encourage you to review it. Each year we ask families to complete some important forms to indicate they have reviewed and understand school and Board policies, and to indicate permissions.
Last week, you received an email from the school board with a link to these forms. Please take the time to review and complete the forms. If you prefer to complete and submit a paper copy, please call the school office and a paper copy will be provided for you. Please submit these forms as soon as possible. The were due today, Friday, September 25, 2026.
Safety Week:
The York Region School Board is committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors in the event of an emergency situation. As such, during Safety Week (Monday, September 28 to Friday, October 2, 2026) and throughout the school year, schools in our Board practise various safety drills, including Fire Drills, Lockdown Drills, Hold and Secure Drills and Bomb Threat Drills. It is critical that all members of our school community become familiar with emergency protocols, as they are designed to keep us all safe at school. Please refer to Board Policy #669.0 for more information about Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management.
Practicing drills may create some anxiety for some students. If you are concerned about how these situations might impact the mental health and well-being of your child, please contact school administrators, as we have school mental health professionals available to support your child.
Personal Mobile Devices at School:
Dear Elementary School Families,
This letter is to inform you about student use of personal mobile devices in schools, in particular, students must store their mobile device out of view, and power off or set to silent mode during the school day. In 2024, the Ontario Ministry of Education introduced a directive modifying the use of personal mobile devices in classrooms. YRDSB already has Policy and Procedure 194.0 Appropriate Use of Technology and many measures around personal mobile devices are already in place. The changes bring alignment with the Ministry Directive. The following expectations for students’ use of personal mobile devices are outlined in the revised Provincial Code of Conduct (PPM 128), and the York Region District School Board’s Policy #668 Caring and Safe Schools.
A personal mobile device (PMD) is any personal electronic device that can be used to communicate or access the internet, such as a laptop, cellphone, tablets, smart watches, meta glasses, or other wearable smart devices.
Expectations
Students are responsible for their personal mobile device, how they use it and the consequences of not following the provincial or school board policy.
Students’ personal mobile devices must be stored out of view and powered off or set to silent mode, except under the circumstances outlined below:
- for educational purposes, as directed by an educator
- for health and medical purposes
- to support special education needs
Students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 can bring a personal mobile device to school, but will only be able to use it before and after school. They may not use personal mobile devices at school during the school day, including recess and lunchtime, unless students leave school property for lunch.
Practices at School
If your child is in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and an educator sees a personal mobile device that is not stored out of view and powered off or set to silent mode, the student may be required to bring their personal mobile device to the school administrator for the school day. The personal mobile device will be placed by the student in a storage area in a location designated by the school administrator.
If your child is in Grade 7 or 8 and an educator sees a personal mobile device that is not stored out of view and powered off or set to silent mode, the student may be required to place their personal mobile device in a storage area designated by the educator for the class or period.
If your child uses their personal mobile device inappropriately, progressive discipline may apply and families may be notified.

Attendance and Student Safe Arrival:
Late Arrivals
If your child arrives after the 9:20 a.m. bell, they are considered late. Please have only your child go to the main entrance and use the buzzer. A staff member will sign in your child.
We would like to remind families to report any student absences using Edsby, by calling the school or sending an email to the school mailbox: louis.honore.frechette.ps@yrdsb.ca
As per Board Policy and Procedures #665.0, Safe Arrivals and Departures – Elementary and Secondary Students, if your child’s absence is still not verified even after exhausting different steps to connect with the family, York Regional Police will be contacted and may be dispatched to your residence.
We remind parent(s)/guardian(s) to update the school with all emergency contact information when changes are made. Thank you for your cooperation in reporting student absences.
Contact Information
Please ensure we have your most current contact information on file, including parent/guardian and emergency contacts. Send an email to the school to update this information.
Entry to the School
To ensure the safety and security of all students and staff, all parents, caregivers, and visitors must enter the school exclusively through the main front doors. When you arrive, please use the buzzer and wait for a member of our office staff to buzz you in. All visitors must report directly to the office upon arrival.
Please note that no entry to the school is permitted through the Kids Come First Child Care Centre doors or through the Kids Come First classrooms.
If you drive or walk your child to school, please drop them off at the Conley gate after 9:05 a.m. Adults are expected to remain outside the gate unless otherwise instructed by staff on duty.
If you are picking up a child from a childcare program and need to enter the main school building (e.g., to pick up another student), you must exit through the Kids Come First doors, walk around to the front main entrance, and ring the buzzer. Families attempting to enter the main school halls through the childcare doors will be redirected outside and to the main entrance.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school environment safe for everyone.
School Council:
School councils play an important role in building school, family and community partnerships by providing input into relevant Board and school-level decisions and by encouraging the involvement of all members of the school community in support of student learning, achievement and well-being.
If you are interested in holding a leadership position on our School Council or nominating someone, please complete the School Council Nomination Form. and submit it to the school no later than Friday, September 25. If you would like a paper copy, please contact the school office to request a form.
Join us for the first School Council meeting! At this meeting the School Council executive and members will be established. All parents are invited to attend this and all School Council meetings. You do not need to hold a formal position to be present, engaged and involved! We look forward to seeing you then and there.
